We are located on the beautiful Saboga Island, in the Pearl Islands Archipelago, just 1.5 hours away from Panama City. Getting to Saboga Island from Panama City is a straightforward journey that can be accomplished in two steps: From Panama City – Saboga Island (step 1), and from Saboga Island to Saboga Lodge (step 2).

Our dress code is casual and informal. We recommend bringing lightweight and comfortable clothing, insect repellent, a bathing suit, and sturdy tennis shoes or hiking boots for our included activities. It’s always a good idea to pack a good book as well!

And remember to bring (coral safe) sunscreen!

We are located in the tropics, close to the equator, and experience consistent temperatures throughout the year. Highs generally reach around 92°F (33°C) and lows hover around 70°F (21°C). However, weather patterns vary throughout the year and can be categorized into three distinct seasons.

Dry Season: Mid-December to mid-April
Green Season: Late April through September
Rainy Season: October to mid-December
The dry season offers four months of delightful sunshine and minimal rainfall. During the green season, the island is mostly sunny or partly cloudy, with occasional afternoon or evening “warm” storms that typically last a few hours. In the rainy season, we may experience heavy downpours, but don’t let the rain discourage you. October is the prime month for humpback whale watching in the Gulf.

Isla Saboga is surrounded by seven beaches, several of which are ideal for swimming. Specifically, Playa El Coral is just a few steps away from our rooms.

In addition to unwinding and savoring the breathtaking nature and pristine beaches, we offer a selection of tours for your enjoyment. To ensure availability, we kindly ask you to book these tours at least 24 hours in advance.

The booking time frame for your stay at Saboga Lodge depends on the season you have in mind. For the high and holiday season (November through April), we kindly recommend making your reservation up to 6 months in advance. We want to ensure you have the best experience possible and securing your booking in advance helps us make that happen.

The longer, the better! However, given our remote location, we recommend staying at least three nights. This is just enough time to soak up the Saboga Lodge experience and enjoy the island without feeling rushed.

Saboga Lodge is independently owned, and the resort is operated by Embera Collection. This Canadian-based hospitality management company is dedicated to operating and developing sustainable stays and apartments all over the world.

The electrical current in Panama is 110 volts. The sockets are American-style: standard US two-pronged plugs (or three-pronged if grounded).

We are fortunate to be situated amidst 400 acres of stunning tropical jungle. Given this, it is possible to come across various forms of wildlife, including insects. Depending on the time of year and the time of day, there may be periods when mosquitoes are present, particularly after prolonged rainfall. It is advisable to apply insect repellent before engaging in activities in the rainforest.

A visa is generally not required for travel to Panama from most countries around the world. However, according to Panama law, you must possess a return ticket to leave the country upon entry, and your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. It is advisable to carry proof of financial means, such as a credit card, bank statement, or cash amounting to at least US $500. Additionally, it is recommended to have your Saboga Lodge booking confirmation readily available, as visitors may sometimes be asked to provide proof of their hotel reservations.
